Coupling, Packaging and Optical Path Diagnostics

Go beyond detecting a change in loss to investigate which part of the optical path may be responsible.

What to Measure

Fiber-to-chip coupling, FAU connections, packaged optical paths, connectors and short intercomponent links.

Define the DUT, optical access and reference conditions before discussing instruments and analysis capabilities.

Why Measure These Parameters?

Transmission changes before and after packaging

Observe assembly and packaging effects to investigate process changes.

Reflection events and locations

Associate overall anomalies with spatial locations to narrow investigation of connections, coupling and structural interfaces.

Reconnection repeatability and stability

Compare connections, references and environmental changes to avoid mistaking system drift for device failure.

How to Measure

  1. 01

Save pre-assembly or pre-packaging reference data and define access and reference planes.

  2. 02

Use applicable OVX coherent optical and transmission measurements to compare traces and event distributions before and after assembly.

  3. 03

Perform reconnection, channel comparisons or controlled retests around suspected locations, retaining the analysis process and versions.

Scope and LimitationsSpatial events are investigative evidence, not automatic identification of a defect type or final root cause. Conclusions require structural, process and retest information.

What Evidence Can Be Produced?

Connect readings with records so results can be understood, compared and reviewed.

  • Before/after assembly trace comparisons
  • Event locations and diagnostic clues
  • Access and reference-condition records
  • Traceable retest results and analytical conclusions

Which Configuration Fits?

Combine products around the task, not simply the instrument count.

Spatial diagnostics

OVX Series

Built-in TSL for reflection and loss analysis using applicable coherent optical measurement capabilities.

Multipath comparison

OVX-SW

Switch between paths and record actual channels for path-by-path comparison.

Field link inspection

KH-OVX-Trace mini

Discuss a field-inspection configuration; capabilities and access conditions are subject to the confirmed solution.

Records and review

OVX-Studio

Organize traces, events and retests through consistent configuration and record logic.

* Pulse and Pro are unreleased series. Listed specifications are preliminary; final configurations, features and availability are subject to formally released technical documentation.
OVX has a built-in TSL; standalone TSLs are configured separately for appropriate user-built optical paths. OVX-TLS, OVX-SW, OVX-PC, OVX-PA, OVX-PDL and OVX-OSA are provisional product-family identifiers, not current delivery commitments. Actual functions, interfaces and performance depend on the confirmed model, method, conditions and version.
